Belgian Parade and Ceremony at the Cenotaph – Sunday 18th July 2009

This is an exceptional event, as Belgium is the only country privileged to hold such a parade at the Cenotaph.  This is a tradition that dates back to the Great War and the friendship between King George V and King Albert I.  This will be the 76th anniversary of the parade and ceremony.

The Ambassador of Belgium accompanied by representatives of the British and Belgian Ministries of Defence.  The President of the Anglo-Belgian Society, Lord Grenfell, will lay a wreath.

You are invited to attend the parade in Whitehall and support the Amicale des Anciens Combattants Belges en Grande-Bretagne, the British Legion and their younger successors who will be marching behind their bands and flags.  The ceremony starts at 10.10am.

Gather at the Cenotaph by 10:15am on the pavement outside the Foreign Office.

The Hispaniola is 2 minutes walk from the Embankment Tube station and at the bottom of the Northumberland Avenue where the new Anglo-Belgian Club is.

Please call me if lost.
